ABOUT

Danny Hartanto Kristiawan is a designer, maker, and curator who works across disciplines such as art, design communication, and marketing. Since 2018, Danny has actively engaged in the twists and turns of the Surabaya creative arts industry through several organizations and businesses. One of the ideas that started his journey was the awareness of alternative art spaces in Surabaya. Filling the shortage of art space and driven by his conviction in the city’s potential, Danny founded Keliling Art Space, a nomadic art space in Surabaya.

At the end of 2020, Danny has involved in developing and setting up the initial ecosystem as Creative Director at Unicorn Creative Space, an interdisciplinary creative space located in an industrial area in South Surabaya. Now he is in charge as Artistic Director at Orasis Art Space, a newly refurbished gallery and host to seminal programs and activities related to the arts and culture such as Surabaya Art Prize and KineKini Moving Image Festival. He has taken part in several cultural programs, including CULTIVATE: Programming in the Arts by the In-tangible Institute & Bangkok Art and Culture Center as a participant; the public discussion Pasar Seni Rupa Kontemporer Indonesia: Potensi dan Problematika at ARTSUBS: Material Ways as a moderator; and the Peruvian Film Screening by the Embassy of Peru in Indonesia as a curator.
